"I have been working in Sheffield for just a small number of months, but one of the things I have been most impressed by is the commitment of Sheffield’s parents to high quality education. This has been shown very clearly in the north west of Sheffield where we are very pleased to be working with a group of dedicated parents to open the new school on Wood Lane. The new school will open in new buildings in September 2011 and we will be doing all we can to support the group of parents and the recently-formed Governing Body to make this a success.

I am pleased that the Proposing Group share our commitment to making schools work for the whole community and hope that all local people come together to make the most of the new facilities in 2011 and beyond. It is important that everyone comes together to make a successful school for local children and local people now that the uncertainty is over.

In the meantime we are also committed to continue working with the current schools up to 2011 to make sure they keep on building upon the successes of recent years."
