FORGE VALLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL

The New Building

Our aim

From the outset we have been determined to design a learning place of excellence, that will excite, innovate and welcome students and our community. We wanted to create a building, and outdoor spaces, that would compliment the environment, and for it to give young people and adults safe, dignified and flexible spaces to learn and develop.

Key Features

A unique feature of Forge Valley will be the central heart space giving the building a light and airy feel. Classrooms with associated breakout spaces overlook the atrium. Wherever possible narrow corridors have been avoided to provide fluidity. There will be full and unrestricted access for those with disabilities.

The building has been designed to incorporate the latest environmentally friendly processes. It will be powered by a bio-mass boiler which uses re-cycled wood-chip. There will be solar panels and the building will make the maximum use of natural light.

Outside of the building will be equally innovative. An allotment area for the growing of fruit and vegetables is planned along with a sensory garden. The building will effortlessly blend in with the grounds in which it is set, flowing naturally with the terrain by means of a landscaped plateau. External teaching in such surroundings will be equally pleasurable for staff and students alike.

For those intending to cycle to Forge Valley there will be secure cycle storage.

A state of the art sports barn completes the facilities that it is hoped will be enjoyed by the local community at large. Life long learning is to be encouraged at Forge Valley.
